POSTPONED IN PANDEMIC PART 2

Laice and Justin

Q : What was your original date and venue?

A: Our original date was April 4, 2020 at Hidden Acres in Marion, SC.

Q : What alternate plans have you made?

A: We postponed to this fall and will be getting married at Hewitt Oaks in Bluffton, SC on October 17th, 2020.

Q : Did you celebrate on your original wedding date?

A: We still got married on April 4th to honor my late grandmother's wishes of us getting married in a church. With just our family by our side, we still have our original anniversary date.  I did not wear my wedding dress I got from Verità because I wanted to save it for all the pictures and videos in October.

Q : What advice would you give to other brides during this time?

A: I think the biggest piece of advice for brides going through this pandemic is to just remember the true reason behind the wedding. No matter when or where the wedding is, you will be pledging your love to your forever partner. I'm beyond grateful to be married to my best friend and now we will have two anniversaries to celebrate!

Q : What was your original date and venue?

A: We had originally planned to get married on April 25, 2020 in Greenville, SC at Huguenot Loft. This date was very special to us as it was my parent's wedding date in 1987.

Q : What alternate plans have you made?

A: Our new date is now Sunday, October 25, 2020. Unfortunately, with many other couples having to reschedule as well, our venue didn't have any other Saturdays available in 2020 so we had to settle for a Sunday, which isn't ideal but we just have to make it work!

Q : Who has been the most helpful during this time?

A: I really want to shout out our wedding planner, Marion Reeves at Katie Williams Events. She has been a lifesaver during this time. She's been in contact with our venue and all of our vendors in coordinating our new date. We didn't have to reach out to a single person, except for our guests, about trying to schedule a new date and she was able to retain all of our original vendors!

Q : Did you celebrate on your original wedding date?

A: We started the morning off by dancing to our first dance song in our living room then we made brunch and drank mimosas. We relaxed for most of the afternoon and then ordered a really nice dinner from a steakhouse in town and toasted our marriage with a nice bottle of wine.

Q : What advice would you give to other brides during this time?

A: I would say you just kind of have to roll with the punches. You may have been planning your wedding for months or years and it's heartbreaking to be sitting at home on what was supposed to be the best day of your life. But this is something that none of us have control over. Take time to be upset, take time to cry if you need to, but make sure you still celebrate your would-be wedding day!

Q : What was your original date?

A: My fiancé Vince and I were supposed to be getting married April 25th 2020.

Q : What alternate plans have you made?

A: Our venue was first cancelled a month before our wedding date so we are going to postpone. With our friends and family from CT, we didn’t want to put any more financial strain, so we decided to postpone until next time for either March or April.

We have not set a new date yet until all of this blows over.

Q : Did you celebrate on your original wedding date?

A: My family surprised us and had a little “rehearsal” wedding to still make the day special for us! Our friends and family were on Facebook live, the neighbors came together and did a parade for us in their cars! We even had a cake baked for us, and still had our first dance! It was so much fun and still so special even though we didn’t legally get married!

Q : What advice would you give to other brides during this time?

A: My advice is to honestly not stress about it. What is most important is the love you two share, and is definitely a test for marriage! Look at the positives more than the negatives! Cry the first day, grab a drink and get excited for the new date.

Also, have a mini celebration on your original date to still make it special!

Samantha and Andy

Q : What was your original date and venue?

A: Our original plans were to get married on April 25, 2020 at Dunes West Golf and River club in Charleston, SC.

Q : What alternate plans have you made?

A: We had to cancel the wedding for the time being and are unsure when we will be able to reschedule due to the possible “second wave” of the virus on top of hurricane season we have in Charleston in the fall. We are now leaning towards some sort of elopement or very small ceremony soon with a reception party possibly later on when we feel safe and comfortable with it. Especially since I work in the hospital, I am trying to be extra cautious so we don’t expose any of our loved ones to anything from work.

Q : What have you learned from this experience?

A: Changing your date doesn’t mean you are changing your love. Lean on each other in these difficult and stressful moments and it will make your love even stronger.

Q : Did you celebrate on your original wedding date?

A: My fiancé and I set timers for each “milestone” that day and had a champagne toast for the moments that would have been first looks, first dances, the start of the ceremony, and official marriage times. Don’t forget to dance a little too!

Q : What advice would you give to other brides during this time?

A: When you look at rescheduling, be gentle with yourself. I know a lot of people have spent so much time planning, and not to mention the potential loss of finances from certain things not getting refunded, or even from losing jobs during this time. Thinking about doing it all over can feel overwhelming, so try to simplify what you can. Don’t worry about sending “change the dates” or even new formal invitations. I think loved ones will understand if the second invitation looks more like a group chat, phone call, email, or text invitation. So get creative on simple ways to save money like that.
