REAL Verità BRIDe FEATURE: ERIN ELLIOT

Q : How were you feeling when you first started looking for your wedding dress?

A: For me, I thought finding the wedding dress was going to be the hardest part. I work in the industry, I'm a perfectionist and I had a clear vision of what I wanted the dress to look like so I thought it was going to be hard to find. I also get overwhelmed quickly. I was afraid that I was going to pick a dress that I liked and then find another dress that I liked more so this made me stress out before I even went dress shopping.

Q : What made your experience at Verità special?

A: Being able to have my mom in town for dress shopping was very special and meaningful to me because she lives far away. I never thought that we would find the dress at the first boutique let alone select the very first dress I tried on. I also have to mention Jessica, owner of Verità and her incredible customer service made the experience so special. I had reached out to a few local boutiques in town to schedule appointments and instead of sending a generic email back to me, Jessica personalized the initial email which made me feel like she really cared. Because of this, I actually ended up cancelling all of my other appointments and trusted that we would find the dress at her store.

Q : Describe the moment you found your dress, was it what you envisioned or were you surprised?

A: My mom sent me a post from Verità highlighting a new dress they just got in. When we walked into the store for my appointment, my mom noticed that the dress she had sent me was in the window and she wanted me to try it on. It had everything I wanted, beautiful lace sleeves and a longer train like Kate Middleton’s dress who was my inspiration. This was the very first dress Jessica put me in and when I walked out of the dressing room it took my breath away and my mom shed a tear. It fit my body type perfectly and I knew that it was the one. Moral of the story – my  mom is always right. Every time I looked back at pictures from the appointment, I fell more and more in love with the gown and that reassured me that it was perfect and I didn’t have an ounce of doubt that there was a better gown out there for me.

Q : Where did your wedding take place and what was your aesthetic?

A: The wedding venue was Lowndes Grove which is like my second home as I am a Sales Manager for Patrick Properties Hospitality Group and my husband is the Executive Sous Chef. For the aesthetic, my main goal was to be able to look back at my wedding pictures 40-50 years from now and to still love it. I did not want anything trendy and I wanted it to be classic so I kept to a neutral color scheme of white, black, green, and some gold. I am not a huge fan of color and I usually only wear black so my bridesmaids wore whatever black gown made them feel beautiful and I wanted the vibe of the wedding to be on the darker side, it was a winter wedding so the darker colors went well.

Q : What was your favorite part of your wedding?

A: It is impossible to choose my favorite part as the whole day was perfect. Walking down the aisle with my dad and the father/daughter dance was very special to me.

During the planning process, I would always think about doing those things on the day of the wedding and when I finally got to have those moments it was overwhelmingly meaningful. I also have to give a shout out to the most incredible sunset that really turned out that day.

Q : What advice would you give to future brides?

A: Working at Patrick Properties for over 5 years, seeing hundreds of weddings and then finally having my own wedding, I would highly suggest:
1. Taking some time to yourselves the day of the wedding and just take it all in. Stand back with your new spouse and just look at your venue, your friends, your family, and take mental pictures of how amazing it all is. Those are the moments of the day that I vividly remember – standing back, looking at everyone I love, and smiling.
2. Hire a wedding planner. Ashley with Boutique Planning deserves an award for dealing with me throughout the planning process but in all honestly she was amazing. I trusted her completely and she brought my vision to life.
3. You can only control so much. I think this is especially important to note with everything that is currently going on in the world. At the end of the day, getting married to your person is what matters the most and remember that. You can’t control the weather and something is bound to go wrong but do not sweat the small stuff and just enjoy every moment.
"Shopping at Verita was an amazing experience and I am so happy to have found my gown there."
